A sixth-generation San Franciscan, Sica has massaged in the bay area for 13 years. After receiving her BA in photography and sculpture from UC Santa Cruz in 2003, Sica pursued careers in art education and in-home care. Applying these experiences she transitioned into the healing arts and graduated from the National Holistic Institute in 2011. Applying the skills used in one-on-one care, Sica refined her practice and clinical skills working with professional athletes, those recovering from injuries, and prenatal clients. Her sports massage is exhilarating, her Abhyanga lymphatic drainage rejuvenating, and her psoas and pelvic floor work creates foundational shifts in movement and awareness in the body.

Sica offers a unique blend of experience, intuition, and knowledge pooled from a background in dance training and yoga practice. She supports clients through injury recovery, and optimal mechanics for sports performance by offering custom stretches and exercises beyond the massage session.

When she is not working, she has a regular meditation practice, and enjoys running, seeing local dance performances and exploring the gorgeous California landscape.

“I use a very hands on, collaborative approach. The body is a magnificent revealer of experience. I use my training in therapeutic massage to decipher what the body is holding, and what can be released. I draw from my past dance and choreography experience to find creative ways to integrate movement, bodywork and acupuncture towards your rehabilitation from injury and pain. Drawing from my background in psychology, meditation and Somatics helps me facilitate an embodied presence and guides you toward a deeper understanding of yourself. Chinese medicine reveals connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena of your experience, thus uncovering the root cause of the ailment you are seeking to treat.”

From the plains of Inner Mongolia, I am a cosmopolitan. I graduated from China University of Political Science and Law and practiced law in Beijing for seven years. I graduated from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts and worked as a chef for nine years, taking my career to the five-star Marriott Hotel. But I wanted to do something I could do for the rest of my life, so I graduated from the University of East-West Medicine as an acupuncturist. There is a reason I have always loved learning. No knowledge is ever wasted. Even my vastly different jobs have their intersections. My experience as a chef, for example, gives me a unique perspective on prescriptions and nutrition. My experience as a lawyer has also made deducing illnesses based on details a more familiar process. Learning is a lifelong process, and I firmly believe in that. It serves as an advantage that traditional herbal is so intricate. The knowledge gathered from centuries of practice has fallen upon me to relearn. Such is the reason I believe I will continue on this path for the rest of my life. I have always thought a career of relieving pains, helping people live better lives, and curing illness a divine servitude. Now I have picked up the red cross, the path is arduous, but that has never stopped me before.
